Restaurants Costa Dorada: Cambrils, Salou and Tarragona.

Best restaurants in the Costa Dorada

Can Bosch
Rambla Jaume I, 19,
Cambrils
Costa Dorada, Spain

A delightful restaurant in Cambrils, just a 5 minute drive from Salou. Famous throughout Spain for its innovative dishes and more traditional rice dishes, particularly its arroz negro, a black rice made with squid's ink (sounds - and looks - disgusting but is actually delicious). Elegant decor but still child-friendly, especially for lunch at weekends when the restaurant welcomes large family groups - often with three generations at the table - so if you plan to go for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday you are advised to book well in advance.

Quite pricey, but well worth the expense. The starters are exquisite, you won't find better king-sized prawns anywhere in Spain. Innovative creations made with top quality produce. Wonderful desserts (if you like chocolate, order the warm chocolate cake), impressive wines, many locally produced (be prepared to be advised according to what you order), amazing cigar collection (smoking is only allowed in closed off areas), strong coffee and spicey ginger tea. A meal at Can Bosch Restaurant in Cambrils is an experience you will never forget.

Casa Gallau Restaurant
C/Pescadors, 25,
Cambrils Port.

Cambrils is not only prettier and calmer than Salou, it also has the advantage of having several excellent restaurants, and Casa Gallau is another of our favourites. Just a few minutes walk from the paseo marítimo, so park there. Probably one of the best seafood restaurants on the Costa Dorada and very popular with locals.

Friendly service in a pleasant dining area set in an interior patio where it is a pleasure to eat in the warm Summer evenings. The freshest fish and seafood you can imagine is served quickly and efficiently. Delicious prawns and exquisite home-made canelonis for members of your party who aren't too keen on fish. Try their crema catalana for desert.

Casa Gatell Restaurant
Pº Miramar, 26
Cambrils
Another seafood restaurant offering outstanding fresh fish and shellfish and excellent fish rice dishes. Try the arroz con bogavante en cazuela - a lobster rice dish which has to be tasted to be believed. Excellent prawns of all shapes and sizes, modern cuisine and exquisite desserts. Another quite expensive restaurant but again, well worth the effort. The terrace overlooks Cambrils harbour.
Albatros
Bruselas, 60
Cala Llenguadets
Salou.
Probably the best restaurant in Salou and ideal for people visiting Port Aventura who don't want to survive on the kind of poor-quality fast food served at most of the restaurants in the theme park. Modern and traditional cuisine served in delightful surroundings in a quiet cove, hidden away from the usual hustle and bustle of Salou. Very good price:quality ratio.
Restaurant Merlot
Cavallers, 6
Tarragona
Visitors to Tarragona will be charmed by the attention received in this relatively new restaurant (opened in 1997) which is considered by experts to have evolved into one of the best in Tarragona. Modern versions of traditional Mediterranean dishes, excellent standard of service, interesting layout on three floors. Highly recommended.
