With over 40 years
history this restaurant
is a fine example of
traditional Basque cuisine.
It is also one of the
best known classic restaurants
in Bilbao. It is located
9 kms outside the centre
of Bilbao in Galdako,
in a pretty Basque countryhouse
next to the Andra Mari
13th century church.
The restaurant is set
in beautiful countryside
with views over the
Ibaizábal valley
and the nearby mountains
Dima, Oiz and Gorbea.
Roberto Asúa
combines tradition,
innovation and skill
in his dishes and very
typical to Basque cuisine
he uses only the best
fresh seasonal ingredients,
some from the restaurant's
own vegetable garden.
As well as using recipes
that are over 30 years
old like the "Bacalao
al club Ranero"
he also produces new
interesting dishes.
The restaurant is one
of the best of its kind
and this goes for the
service too directed
by Margarita Atutxa.
The restaurant has an
elegant tastefully decorated
