2nd July 2004

Was ready for my alarm when it went off this morning. :o)
The three of us (Danny has gone to stay with his Dad for 2 weeks) had breakfast out on the patio. It was so quiet and peaceful because everyone else from the urbanisation was still in bed. Getting David ready for school today was really easy as his Mum got him dressed and all I had to do was convince him that he wanted to brush his teeth. The best way I´ve found so far of getting David to do things is by turning everything into a race. As I needed to brush my teeth too I challenged him to beat me - as long as he brushed them properly. It worked a treat! ;o)

David just has a half day at school today, and he´s got his final rehearsal for his school concert which is tomorrow. We´re all going to go and watch-in fact I´m really looking forward to it.

I´m looking after Ramon this evening so it will be interesting to see how things gohaving only met him once. I´m feeling quite positive about it. His english is really very good and he seems well behaved, just a bit full of beans and enthusiastic about everything. Not a bad thing.

Ramon's mum picked me up when she finished work at about 21.15, Ramon and I had dinner and then started playing games as his Mum left for a meal out. She had said to me to let him go to bed whenever he's tired, but that he is often quite reluctant to sleep when his Mum is out. As it's Saturday tomorrow she said it wasn't important. Just as well. Ramon and I played non-stop games until 1am when he conked out on the sofa! I was just as tired as him! It is so draining to always be enthusiastic and to play games that really aren't your cup of tea. One game we played was a card game, all the kids at school are collecting and swapping these cards. I wonder if any actually know the full rules of the game? Ramon didn't seem to...we just sat about throwing cards down and letting him decide which cards beat which others! So after 4 hours of games - which didn't feel like 4 hours but was still quite long enough, Ramon slept. I woke him up very cautiously to move him to his bed and he walked himself there and fell fast asleep again in bed.

I got home at 2.30am and left a note for Becky to explain what time I had got in and to say I wasn´t going to set my alarm in the morning!

We are enjoying your diary and hope you are enjoying a part of Spain we know well; it seems so. We wonder what impressions you are getting about the new political situation in Spain -from the admittedley restricted number of people you are meeting. Is there some real socialism gpoing on there rather than the disappointing version in this country?
