29th June 2004

Up at 7.30 again to have breakfast with the boys before school. I dropped them off with Julia again and then we went fruit, veg and meat shopping. Fruit and Veg was no problem, but the butchers gave me a bit of a fright. Now, this may be partly because I was vegetarian for 8 years and i´ve only been eating meat for the last 6 months so I was a little shocked by what greeted me. Now, I´m not very accustomed to butchers in England either but I´ve never walked into one and seen pigs legs hanging up, and pigs trotters sitting in the front of the display and whole skinned rabbits. When we asked for 500g of turkey breast I watched as the butcher grabbed a whole turkey, legs head and everything and hacked out it´s chest before mincing it and wrapping it up for us. Another new experience!

Ooh something else that might be happening while I´m here is that some neighbours of the family I´m staying with are learning English at school. They are about 11. It´s been suggested that while the boys are still at school, for about an hour each day, I will teach them some English if they will teach me some Spanish! A fair exchange I would say. We´re going to have a trial run today and see what happens...

So,I had my first Spanish lesson. The time went so quickly. We started off just covering the basics but within an hour I could count to 20, tell the time, I knew my colours and other basics like "hello" and "thank you" and "swimsuit!"

After our little lesson session I went back to the house for lunch and then it was time to pick the boys up from school. I waited at home while Becky went and when everyone was back, including a friend of Danny´s, we all headed to the beach for a swim.

The beach was lovely and after we´d got all the sand off we headed home. We had a bit of time kill before dinner so I played a game with David while Diego and Danny amused themselves. After dinner I watched a film with David until it was time for him to go to bed. Becky went out for a meal this evening to I stayed in with the boys - who were no trouble.
