Spanish dessert recipe: Baked bananas

Basic ingredients:

  • 4 bananas
  • grated rind and juice of 1 orange
  • 2 tbsp dark rum
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 30g butter
Steps to making Spanish baked bananas:

1. Peel and slice the bananas (thick slices) and place in a heat proof serving dish

2. Pour the orange juice and rum over the sliced bananas then sprinkle with the sugar and grated rind of the orange

3. Cut the butter into small cubes and place on top of the bananas

4. Cover with foil and place in a preheated oven (180 degrees) for 15 mins

5. Serve warm with fresh cream or vanilla ice cream

Tips and ideas:

  • You could use brandy or a sweet Spanish dessert wine instead of rum
  • If you're counting your calories, use natural yoghurt instead of cream
