Google asked to correct Spanish palace’s name

The Spanish government has asked Google Maps to correct the name given for the ‘Palacio de la Moncloa’ which currently appears written in Catalan as ‘Palau de la Moncloa’. A spokesperson for Google Maps has confirmed that it will correct the error as soon as possible.

However, when asked how its system of correcting errors worked Google said that the errors needed to be corrected by the interested party through its website not by Google.

Furthermore, Google Maps has refused to put through calls to its press department for information on errors committed by Google Maps saying that it was not its responsibility.

Last July other errors affecting Spain were detected in Google Maps when ‘el islote de Pereji’ and ‘las islas Chafarinas’ which are part of Spanish territory were labelled as part of Morocco.
