Los investigadores,<br \/>\nde B\u00e9lgica, Francia y Canad\u00e1, estudiaron la estructura interna de<br \/>\nlas linternas de las luci\u00e9rnagas, los \u00f3rganos situados en el<br \/>\nabdomen de estos insectos bioluminiscentes que se iluminan para<br \/>\natraer a sus parejas. Los cient\u00edficos identificaron un patr\u00f3n<br \/>\ninesperado de escamas irregulares que realzaban el resplandor de las<br \/>\nlinternas y aplicaron ese conocimiento al dise\u00f1o de los LED, creando<br \/>\nuna sobrecapa que imita la estructura natural. La sobrecapa, que<br \/>\nincrement\u00f3 la extracci\u00f3n de luz de los LED hasta en un 55%, se<br \/>\npodr\u00eda adaptar f\u00e1cilmente a los dise\u00f1os de diodos ya existentes<br \/>\npara ayudar a los humanos a iluminar la noche utilizando menos<br \/>\nenerg\u00eda.
