National Library Museum opens in Madrid<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today the Culture Minister, Carmen Calvo, will open a new National Library in Madrid.<\/p>\n

The library, which has been under construction for over 2 years, is distributed over 8 rooms covering 1400 m2. Exhibitions will take up 755 m2 while the rest of the museum will be dedicated to workshops and special activities.<\/p>\n

The contents of the library will use the latest in technology including audiovisual exhibits and computer facilities for visitors. Exhibitions will cover the three centuries that books have existed and original copies and curiosities will be on display.<\/p>\n

Special attention will be given to school parties with guided tours and a programme of activities aimed at schools. There will also be a programme of interactive workshops and weekend activities which will change from month to month.<\/p>\n
