Heavy rain and storms threaten 30 provinces in Spain <\/p>\n
A total of 30 provinces throughout Spain are on alert today due to the threat of heavy rain and storms. According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) there could be as much as 30 litres of rainfall per square metre in some north-eastern parts of the country. <\/p>\n
Huesca and Lleida have been placed on orange alert (important risk) while Galicia, Pontevedra, Orense, Lugo, Asturias, Le\u00f3n, Zamora, Palencia, Burgos, La Rioja, Soria, Navarra, Zaragoza, Teruel, Guadalajara, L\u00e9rida, Madrid, Segovia, \u00c1vila, Salamanca, Toledo, Ciudad Real, C\u00e1ceres, Badajoz, C\u00f3rdoba, Sevilla, Huelva and C\u00e1diz are on medium alert. Almer\u00eda has been places on medium alert due to the threat of rough seas and gales which are also expected to affect the Andalucian coastline and Menorca. <\/p>\n
Showers ranging from light to heavy are forecast for most of the country and are expected to be more persistent in northern, central and eastern areas especially in the Pyrenees. Showers are expected to be light along the Mediterranean coastline. The Balearic Islands and Melilla are expected to be cloudy with the possibility of showers. The Canary Islands will also be cloudy with the possibility of showers.
Temperatures are forecast to drop significantly throughout the Peninsula except for north-eastern parts and Cantabria where they are expected to remain constant.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
