La prueba fue en Agosto del 2000 y su nombre \u00abMarathon del Nilo\u00bb. Se pod\u00eda hacer a pie o en bici. Unos 1.000 km de contrastes entre el Norte de Espa\u00f1a (Pa\u00eds Vasco) y Egipto. <\/p>\n

 Se repite actualmente por los organizadores en otros desiertos (2014): Atacama Bike Marat\u00f3n 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n

Primeras etapas en el Pa\u00eds Vasco, 2, 3 y 4 de agosto de 2000<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reuni\u00f3n de participantes, entre ellos Claudio Ciapucci. La primera etapa consistir\u00eda  en dar vueltas a un peque\u00f1o circuito en el que en cada vuelta se eliminar\u00eda al \u00faltimo corredor en pasar por meta.  La 2\u00aa etapa: Vitoria – La Guardia. (jueves, 3) de unos 70 Km con tres peque\u00f1as sierras con una jornada de lluvia y barro bajando por r\u00edos de piedras. Se come en Villa Luc\u00eda. Y por \u00faltimo, la 3\u00aa etapa: Pantanos de Vitoria. (viernes, 4) Etapa reducida. Las etapas de Egipto no se parecer\u00e1n en nada a esta experiencia h\u00fameda en el Euskadi. Ma\u00f1ana viaje a Madrid (en bus) y desde all\u00ed a El Cairo <\/p>\n

El viaje sirve para conocer a la gente. Llegamos a El Cairo a las 1 de la madrugada a un buen hotel de 5 estrellas. desde la ventana de la habitaci\u00f3n se ven las Pir\u00e1mides. <\/p>\n

4\u00aa Etapa: Circuito de Giza Pir\u00e1mides. Domingo, 6<\/strong><\/p>\n

Desayuno energ\u00e9tico a base de frutas, tostadas, tortitas, tortilla, salchichas… Temperatura en la calle 31\u00ba (temprano) a 4 km del hotel en la zona de las Pir\u00e1mides, El circuito es una mezcla de pista r\u00e1pida con arena y algo de asfalto. Cord\u00f3n policial armados sobre camellos en el per\u00edmetro del circuito. Aire extremadamente caliente, que seca el cuerpo y en especial la boca. Gana Chiapucci al sprint. Vuelta al hotel para embalar las bicis y tomar un avi\u00f3n a Luxor. <\/p>\n

5\u00aa Etapa: Luxor – Colosos de Memn\u00f3n. Lunes, 7<\/strong><\/p>\n

Los colosos son dos impresionantes moles de piedra que representan al fara\u00f3n Amenhotep III sentado y que est\u00e1n situadas en la ribera occidental del Nilo (entrada hacia el Valle de los Reyes) Primera etapa de desierto aut\u00e9ntico de piedras y tierra y polvo. Hay que evitar los bancos de arena, son mortales. En una zona de dunas primer avituallamiento, vital para refrescarse el cuello. Es f\u00e1cil perderse y no ver las correspondientes balizas. <\/p>\n

6\u00aa Etapa: Colosos de Memn\u00f3n (Valle de los Reyes). Martes, 8<\/strong><\/p>\n

Desayuno a las 4 de la ma\u00f1ana. Caf\u00e9, cereales, boller\u00eda… Las bicis y nosotros en un furg\u00f3n. Etapa a lo largo del valle ida y vuelta por el mismo camino. empiezas a entender que hay que administrar bien las fuerzas. Por la tarde visita tur\u00edstica al templo de Edfu (40\u00ba C en la cubierta del barco) <\/p>\n

7\u00aa Etapa: Esna – Edfu. Mi\u00e9rcoles, 9<\/strong><\/p>\n

El grupo anda tocado con algunos problemas digestivos e intestinales. Etapa larga y complicada. El viento pega fuerte y se hace necesario colaborar en los relevos. <\/p>\n

8\u00aa Etapa: Edfu – Kom-ombo. Jueves, 10<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parte final de ayer, para posteriormente continuar hacia el sur. Hay que bajarse de la bici para pasar algunas dunas. Consejo importante: hay que deshinchar las ruedas para rodar m\u00e1s eficientemente. <\/p>\n

9\u00aa Etapa: Kom-ombo – Asswan. Viernes, 11<\/strong><\/p>\n

Otro desayuno a las 4.30 a.m. Primer tramo en dunas y empujando la bicicleta. Zonas en las que te hundes. Al terminar la etapa muchos corredores con problemas. <\/p>\n

10\u00aa Etapa: Contrarreloj Aswan. S\u00e1bado, 12<\/strong><\/p>\n

Etapa prevista de 130 km es sustituida por una contrareloj de 20 km. debido al estado de los corredores. Es la \u00faltima etapa importante de la carrera. Circuito rompepiernas. <\/p>\n

11\u00aa Etapa: Pir\u00e1mides de Giza. Domingo, 13<\/strong><\/p>\n

Etapa sin problemas, trofeos, podios…etc. Visita tur\u00edstica a las pir\u00e1mides. No est\u00e1 mal, premio merecido para esta, cincuenta europeos que se dedican a correr a 45\u00ba de temperatura. <\/p>\n
