According to Spain's Audit Tribunal, the Spanish railway system is in a very bad state. Their report accuses RENFE (the national railway company) of underfunding services, and misdirecting investment. The company has growing debts, and increasingly relies on an ageing infrastructure. The analisis says that the dire state of RENFE's finances has direct implications on passenger safety. Wrap up warm today - apparantly it's the coldest day in Spain for the past year. I'm in Madrid today - minus 3 degrees in the center, and minus 14 degrees in the Sierra. Meanwhile in Alicante it was 3 degrees when my sons got up this morning. Check the weather out in your area here.
