"El mesón de Doña Filo" is located in the mountains surrounding Madrid, approximately 60 kms from the centre of the capital in Colmenar del Arroyo (see detailed map in useful information below). It takes about an hour and a half to reach the restaurant but its definitely worth the journey and very suprising to find a Michelin star restaurant in the middle of the countryside outside Madrid. It's cosy size and simple decor makes this restaurant an even more attractive proposition.

Julio Reoyo and Inma Redondo run this restaurant with its Mediterranean and Cantabrian influences in the kitchen. All ingredients are carefully selected. A reduced menu (normally only 5 options) but always excellent choices.

A special mention for its 'casquería' in many variations.... Each autumn it has evenings dedicated just to 'la casquería'.

A very good wine list. Friendly service which makes you feel very welcome. Attractive prices compared to the centre of Madrid and the quality of the food on offer.
