Spanish traditional recipe: Sautéd broad breans

Basic ingredients:

  • 400g broad beans
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 25ml water
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • salt and pepper
Steps to making sautéd broad beans:

1. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the sliced garlic until golden - remove from the pan and set aside

2. Sauté the broad beans in the same frying pan for about 5 mins

3. Mix the garlic with the paprika and water in a blender and then add to the frying pan - season with salt and pepper - cover and cook for a further 20 mins until the beans are tender (add more water if necessary)

Tips and varieties:

  • You can add a little serrano ham if you are not a vegetarian to give this dish extra flavour
  • If you use frozen broad beans, defreeze beforehand.
